U10 Girls - 2009 Fall - Game Recap - Southwick @ Longmeadow

Saturday, September 26, 2009 Longmeagow, MA -  Today, Southwick traveled to Longmeadow for an early afternoon game at Wolf Swamp Field.  In the first half Southwick had many chances, keeping the ball mostly in the Longmeadow end.  Aelish McGivney, Gillian Ensign, and Paige Arsenault did a great job of moving the ball up to the Southwick forwards to keep the pressure on, while Liz Tenerowicz made several key stops in goal.  Late in the first half, Southwick finally broke through.  Swapping roles from last week's final play, Madeline Grucci found Fiona O'Donnell across the middle who put Southwick up, 1-0.  Early in the second half though, Longmeadow came back to tie the game at 1-1.  Both teams continued to fight in a tight game the rest of the way with Maggie Sullivan,  Emmalina Toma, and O'Donnell giving Southwick several chances.  McKenna Leary tended the Southwick goal to prevent any further Longmeadow scoring.  In the end, the game remained tied.  Final Score - Southwick 1   Longmeadow 1
