U10 Girls - 2009 Fall - Game Recap - Southwick @ Cold Spring

Saturday, October 17, 2009 Belchertown, MA - On a cool Saturday afternoon, the Strikers made their way to Belchertown to take on a very good Cold Spring team.  Cold Spring would jump out to a one goal lead early in the first half.  The score would stay that way through the half despite nice passing and several chances by Fiona O'Donnell and Emmalina Toma.  After the break, the Southwick midfielders led by Zeleda Madera, Gillian Ensign, and Madeline Grucci moved the ball well to keep play in the Cold Spring end of the field for most of the second half. The entire Southwick team displayed some of it's best passing of the year.  Eventually they broke through when Toma broke free across the middle and found the upper right corner of the net to tie the game at 1.  Southwick would have many more shots, but wasn't able to put another one on the goal.  Aelish McGivney, Maggie Sullivan, and Liz Tenerowicz anchored the Striker defense to make sure Cold Spring didn't have any further scoring chances. Final Score - Southwick 1   Cold Spring 1
